The Tempers are an electronic rock band from KRKNSTY, outside of Seattle. They were one of my best discoveries for music, food and fun in the past year. We even worked together producing 6 songs, which turned out STELLAR.
The Tempers are a three-piece band from Seattle, Washington consisting of three siblings, Corina Bakker (vocals), James Bakker (synth) and Chalia Bakker (drums). They play a unique style of electronic music that blends the more psychedelic sounds of the early 70’s with experimental electronics inspired by artists of the last two decades. Their drums combine the classic 80’s Simmons electronic sound with acoustic live rock drums, and are driving, spacey, and somewhat tropical. The synths are heavy and dancey with emphasis on melodic hooks. Using a combination of vintage synths James has created a unique pop sound. Dark and heavy yet dreamy with hints of 70’s funk. The vocals are dark, theatrical, and rhythmic. Corina Bakker’s unique style seems to combine many different voices: dark, Dracula-esque, ultra-powerful and monstrous, lulling, crooning, and tropical. The band is heavily focused on songwriting, creating music that seem classic yet is distinctly different from anything that’s been done before. Their sound maintains pop appeal while completely defying the formula. Focused and dynamic, they are seriously pioneering a new sound. Dead Disco, Love wave, Tropical Black Magic–it has yet to be defined by a genre.
The Tempers self-released their debut album (Vol. 1) followed by a 5 song EP (Together We Are The Love Vortex) and now have announced a new album: (Vol.2) They are all on streaming platforms and also available to hear/ download on their Bandcamp page: https://thetempers.bandcamp.com/music
